:info: Bellow you can read the update history of the page, until about November of 2025, when the façade of the website was re-built.
The following changes and additions have taken place:
Added a new network page for buttons, webrings and similar content;
Added a new icon: :redflag:. This replaced the globe :globe: for the levels page, as it has been awarded to the network page;
The following changes and additions have taken place:
Added Quick-Config to the navigation pane of the page. This feature allows users to change the displayed font, its size, and the line-height; (:note: It is not yet rolled out across all pages. Unsupported pages contain the slider, but will not change)
I'm still not quite happy enough with dark mode. Until it looks sufficiently succulent, enabling of the dark theme on first visit based on browser preference is suspended;
Settings has been renamed to Control Panel;
The following changes and additions have taken place:
The Windows 95 styled radio and checkbox inputs now only use a single image. This resolved the problem where upon checking a button, you'd have to wait a moment for the checked variant to load. Now it simply shifts the offset instead of calling to load another webp;
The following changes and additions have taken place:
Updated all the pages that can be accessed in the sidebar with uniform functionality. Now index, art, library, levels, Jumper & Apple, settings, patches, resources, and blog all have layouts which support mobile devices, they all have sticky headers where applicable, and their navigation should work without fault. As always of course, if you find something worthy to mention, be the guestbook's guest!
Fixed the text being black in night mode in the settings page;
Added two new icons, which are unlike others, drawn by yours truly: :jumper:, and :neocities:. I tried to make them in accordance with the Windows 95 colour palette;
Changed the Jumper & Apple page logo from a generic folder to :jumper:;
Added a link to neocities.org in the navigation sidebar;
The following changes and additions have taken place:
Fixed the :font: icon being accidentally compressed to 67% of its original quality;
The settings menu is more Windows 95-like;
Added three more icons: :blog:, :bin:, :search-doc:
Dark mode is unfortunately a tiny bit broken right now :warn:
Certain pages now have sticky sidebars. Desktop users will no longer have to scroll to the top of the page to acces them. Some of the exempt pages have been neglected for so long that they cannot be easiley patched just yet. Perhaps I should look into implementing this on mobile as well (Implemented); A brief list of pages which require attention, roughly in order of importance:
/settings (on dark mode or mobile)
/art
/levels
/jumper-and-apple
/writing/viking_conquest
/writing/fun/windows-daydream
The following changes and additions have taken place:
Added a new link to the :book: library, revealing a previously unpublished project: Kill la Kill Revolution. This is a fanfiction, which is still not yet finished, but I thought I would drop the landing page at least, in preperation for it's release. The page had undergone fixes to its navigation system, and should be equipped with a progress bar. I hope to make it as exciting for others as it is for me!
Updated the tags in the :book: library subpage, to include both the category of the work, and an estimation of its lenghth in words. I do not know how fast people read, therefore I did not use time-to-read;
The following changes and additions have taken place:
Removed the top and bottom margins from the smallest displays intended for mobile;
The following changes and additions have taken place:
Added a new font, MS UI Gothic to the roster. It now also the default font of the website. I believe it to be a nice compromise between the early web theme and legibiltiy. Of course it can be changed in the settings at any time;
Replaced the icon of the guestbook from a closed purple book :book:, to an open book with various markings :guestbook:;
Replaced the icon of the library from a text document :doc:, to the previously mentioned closed purple book :book:;
Patched the 2026. May. 31 patch to explain how explorer view was born. In short: recycled experimentation.
Re-designed the :book: library subpage. Posts are formatted a little better now, instead of being plain and flat;
Fixed the background's comical stretching;
Discovered a bug where responsive scaling fails in one very specific cirumstance;
Fixed an issue where the 404 - page not found - page did not load the sidebar navigation;
The following changes and additions have taken place:
The placeholder emoji have been replaced with early windows icons;
Added a new script, which helps my work by replacing a string of characters enclosed by colons with the matching image. For example ;note; when written with :-s becomes :note:
The following changes and additions have taken place:
Added a new background to the page in Day mode;
Added a top- and bottom-margin to the webpage;
The following changes and additions have taken place:
Fixed index.html not having alt text for the profile picture image
The banner image has been replaced with a real-life photo
Night mode no longer has a different banner image;
Night mode now has blue title bars;
notes in Night mode are now blue as well;
The following changes and additions have taken place:
Added CMU-Serif as selectable font in the /settings menu;
Highlighted links now have a blue background colour and outline;
Added explorer view to some of the pages, a feature which enables browsing the website through a table interface inspired by early file browswers. This may be clunky on modern devices, or smaller screens. This grew out of an attempt to improve the interface of the library page, which was just a flat page of links with descriptions and titles above. However while pretty on desktop, it proved horribly unfit for mobile or smaller screens. The bit ugly flat order thus remained, and the view had been doubled down upon, as its own separate page;
Fixed an issue where sidebar navigation would display as a grid, and align itself vertically centered;
Due to concerns with the noindex tag of the navigation page, nav.html has been demoted to nav.txt. It should still be working however;
The following changes and additions have taken place:
The dark background now features stars, courtesy of stackoverflow. The idea itself comes from one of my friends, and the colours are taken from the anime show Kill la Kill
Several changes have taken place over the past couple of days.
Re-added pickable fonts: monospace, and sans-serif
Added scaling: 1x, 2x
Added a button to clear all saved preferences, and reset to defaults.
2026 April 25.
- Reworked /settings to be more accessible.
- Added a new option, to scale the size roughly 2x that of the original.
2026 March 28.
- /settings has been renewed to be more accessible on mobile devices, though at the cost of the sidebar comic, which is only available on screens wide enough.
- The idea also arose, that it should be a toggle-able feature to fold the side bar and main article into one. The default value would obviously have to be folded, however the option should probably exist to disable it.
- The Ruszkik Haza! banner will stay around for as long as the Hungarian government is a puppet, forwarding Russian interests before the ones of the people they claim to represent.
2026 March 24.
As much as I do not wish to make the front page just a mere political declaration, as it is still largely performative, recent events have motivated me to temporarily break this policy.
- Until further notice, the header of the webpage has been updated to a photograph taken during the 1956 Hungarian revolution. (wikipedia link) It depicts a wall, that was once defaced with a soviet red star. The revolutionaries took the red star down, and wrote the text Ruszkik haza!, meaning Russians go home! in place of it. FORTEPAN / Nagy Gyula, 1956
2026 February 28.
- The website is undergoing a slow re-structuring, in order to boost accessability.
This may result in style inconsistencies, as not all pages are updated at the same time. 2026 January 14.
Several changes have been made to the website:
- Removed font all selectable fonts, for uniformity, monospace will be used from now on.
- Adjustments have been made for consistency and stability.
- Added the new /writing/ section.
- Emojis have been added to the navigation bar.
- Added experimental rounded corners setting.
- Removed the Christmas theme. 2025 December 31.
- Dark theme has been re-named to Night theme.
- Bright theme has been re-named to Day theme.
- Fixed the colourscheme of the Night theme.
- Reduced monospaced font size. 2025 December 5.
- Added Christmas theme, now available in /settings 2025 November 19.
- Added the Times font to the list of available typefaces in the settings. 2025 November 15.
- The website has been re-designed with a new theme, which is also more accessible and flexible compared to the previous theme.
All known instances of content leaking outside it's container, or being unlegible has been resolved.
under settings, you can toggle between a bright and a dark mode, as well as switch between a pixelated, and a smoother font for accessability.
